Rick enjoys painting oil landscapes and still-lifes.  Subject matter is secondary as he looks for good composition in the light - dark, warm - cool, color relationships.   The strong color and paint textures play an important role in his work.

 The Hyter Group of the Toledo area who specialize in portrait and figure work, all done from live models, will present their works at Dziak Gallery between May 31 - June 30, 2008 (click on link to see some of the art)

 

Lakeside Northcoast Plein Air Paint Out the weekend of July 11-13th will be hosted by the Lakeside Association for members of the Ohio Plein Air Society.  All artists  (artist's info) will be painting on the waterfront from 1:00-3:00 p.m., and a sale of their weekend efforts from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. grounds of Lakeside.  This event also coincides with the Wooden Boat Show on Sunday July 13th.  (click for more details on the Lakeside Northcoast Plein air paintout)

07/12/07 "Grocer's Special" receive First place award in the Katherine Crampton Memorial Art Show in Lakeside, Ohio

 

06/01/07 Rick Dziak one man show at Schedel Gardens, Elmore, Ohio May 5 - June 17, 2007.  Thirty paintings will be in the exhibition.

 

11/ 20/06  Rick has been invited to paint at the end of July, 2007 with fellow OPAS members, Debra Dawson, Ray Hassard, and Karen LaValley at an Invitational Paintout sponsored by the Peninsula Art School.  Forty artist's were invited from all parts of the country to join this event in Door County, Wisconsin.  More later.

 

11/16/06 The painting "Cedar Wood" took Best of Show at the 46th Toledo Artist Club auction. This has been the club's major fund raiser.  Rick has won this award four out of the last seven years.

                                

07/13/06 "Shore Rocks" took second place in the Katherine Crampton Memorial Art show in Lakeside, Ohio

 

05 /05/06 "Spring Pond" chosen to participate in the Oil Painters of America 15th National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils at the Dana Gallery in Missoula, Montana

 

02/06 " Dog Play" was selected for First place at the Having Fun Show at the Toledo Artist club.

 

10/16/05

Rick's painting "East Harbor" took Best of Show at the 45th Toledo Artist Club auction. The four hundred plus membership limited their entries to 117 paintings to be auctioned.  This has been the club's major fund raiser. Rick has won this award three out of the last six years.  This year's award winner brought in the second highest bid of the evening.

 

09/25/05

Rick's painting "Horse Field" received an Honorable Mention at the Ohio Plein Air Society Competition in Nelsonville, Ohio.  The painting was sold off the easel to a private collector at this year's event.

 

4/28/05

Rick's painting " Boardwalk", juried into the 87th Annual exhibition of the Toledo Area Artists, at the Toledo Museum of Art. This show runs from June 10 to July 24

 

10/19-11/19, 04

The painting "Sun Up" was juried into the Downtown Art Exhibition which was displayed at Owens Illinois One Seagate Center Toledo, Ohio.

Two paintings "Otsego Park" and "Lillies in the Wind" were juried into the Mansfield Art Center M Member show

 

9/24-25/04

Rick participated in the Ohio Plein Air Society Paint out and Competition in Hocking Hills region. 

 

7/31 & 8/01/04

The Dziak Gallery sponsored Art at the Lake a fine art show featuring eighteen artists from Northwest Ohio, on the grounds of Dziak and Schoolhouse Gallery in downtown Marblehead.  Many people came to view the fine art work and listen to Dr. Walter and Grace Baker play piano and violin on the porch of Dziak Gallery on Sunday afternoon.  Next year's Art at the Lake will be July 23rd and 24th. 7/12/04

The second annual Monday Morning Paint Out and Picnic was held on July 12, 2004.  After a rainy start everyone was able to pick a spot to paint on the Marblehead Peninsula, forty five artists and their guests had lunch on the studio grounds. Click on Monday Morning paint out to see pictures.

We've moved.  Our new location is 9163 E. Bay Shore Rd. in Marblehead, Ohio. 

An update of the web site now features pictures of the studio and gallery as well as new paintings.

Most recently, Rick had two paintings, "Beach Bright" and "First Snow" juried into the 85th Annual exhibition of the Toledo Area Artists at the Toledo Museum of Art.

 

6/7/02

The painting "Last Ice" was juried into the Toledo Area Artist Show at the Toledo Museum 

of Art in Toledo, Ohio. This is a major work, 48" x 60", inspired by the Lake Erie shore in winter. 

 

3/16/02

For the second year in a row, Rick was awarded the "Bill Williamson Memorial Award" at the Toledo Artists Club's Annual Auction for "Best of Show".  The auction is the club's major fund raiser of the year, and a scholarship is awarded to a University of Toledo art major.  The club received its charter in 1944, and this was its 42nd annual auction.

Rick took two awards at the 83rd Toledo Area Artist Show at the Toledo Museum of Art.  "Before the Ice" took the First place award, and was given the Purchase Award by the Toledo Federation of Artists.

Rick had a painting juried into the 10th National Oil Painters of America Exhibition which was at Zantman Gallery in Palm Desert, Ca.

Mr.Dziak has won an Award of Excellence in the Regional Oil Painters of America Show at the Dunton Gallery in Arlington Heights, Ill.

Direction to downtown Marblehead, Ohio

Located between Cleveland and Toledo on Lake Erie's south shore, Marblehead can be reached by exiting Route 2 at the Marblehead exit, taking Rt. 269 North to Rt 163.  You follow Rt. 163 downtown Marblehead, which becomes Main St.  The gallery is on the left side of the road.

 Marblehead can be reached by exiting Route 2 at the Marblehead exit, taking Rt.269 North to Rt. 163.  You follow Rt 163 to Quarry road (the second stoplight on 163) turn right at the stoplight and continue on Quarry Rd to the first crossroad on the left,  which is E. Bay Shore Rd turn left,  the first driveway to the left is the new studio.  The studio is located in the barn at our new home.
